Changes to Mid-Day Student Dismissal Process
Effective for the 2025–2026 School Year
Dear Pond Cove Families,
As part of our continued efforts to keep your children safe, we are updating our mid-day dismissal procedures beginning with the 2025–2026 school year.
What’s Changing?
Starting this fall, anyone picking up a student during the school day will be required to:
Enter the main office.
Sign the student out in person.
Present photo identification if our administrative specialists do not recognize you.
Why This Change?
The safety of our students is our top priority. This extra step ensures that children are only released to approved and verified adults.
Please Plan Ahead
We understand that this is a shift from our previous process, and it may take a few extra minutes. If your child has an appointment or needs to leave school during the day, please plan to:
Notify the office if you or someone else will be picking up your child early ● Arrive early enough to allow time for signing out
Bring your ID
Notify the office if someone other than a parent or guardian is picking up your child
Communicate these expectations with anyone else who may be picking up your child to ensure that they have their ID with them
Things to Keep in Mind
To help our school day run smoothly and safely, please avoid mid-day pickups during the following times:
2:20 PM – Middle School Dismissal
2:30 PM and later – Pond Cove office staff are preparing for dismissal
2:55 PM – Pond Cove Dismissal Begins
Picking up students during these times can be disruptive and may result in longer wait times. Please schedule early dismissals as early as possible, ideally before 2:25 PM.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school safe. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we implement this new process.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our front office team.
Warmly,
Tiffany Karnes, Principal
Sarah Forrey-Pettit, Assistant Principal
