Principal's Notes 20 May 2019
With this beautiful spring weather comes a new level of excitement on our playground. Many students are energized by spring sports. This energy creates valuable learning experiences as students develop the skills to engage in team activities more independently.
Although we value the diverse interests of our students, safety is the number one priority during recess time. Closed-toe footwear such as sneakers and other sturdy shoes are most appropriate for outdoor play. Please do not allow your child to wear sandals, clogs, flip-flops, and other open shoes to school that can make for injury-prone conditions and inhibit active play. While students are permitted to bring some sports equipment, games or books from home, please remember that any belongings brought to school should be something suitable for safe use in a large group of children. No bats, hard balls, roller skates, skateboards, hockey or lacrosse sticks are allowed. If you are unsure as to what is appropriate, please contact your child’s teacher for clarification.
Also, if your child walks or bikes to school, please periodically review safety procedures with them Bicycle Coalition of Maine.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
