Principal's Notes
Week of April 22, 2019

Dear Pond Cove Families,

Welcome back! There is great energy throughout our amazing school this morning as both students and staff are reconnecting after the spring break. As we know, shifting back into school routines can create temporary challenges for us all. Our staff is aware of this and we are supporting the transition for students.

There was a great turn-out for the Executive Function Parent Night on Wednesday, April 3rd! Here is the link to the presentation slides. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Hanson, Middle School Social Worker at shanson@capeelizabethschools. org

May 8 is National Walk or Bike to School Day. In the past, many Pond Cove students have participated in this event. We had around two hundred riders last year and also several walkers. Each year, for the past ten years, presenters from the Bicycle Coalition of Maine have helped provide students with easily summarized safety tips for both walking and bicycle riding to school. We are fortunate to have them return this week to present an interactive workshop about Bike and Pedestrian Safety with all 2nd graders during Health lessons. We routinely target grade two students for this training as this is the age many begin to walk or bike to school. Check out their website page for helpful safety information. We strongly suggest that this information is reviewed at home if your child will be walking or biking this spring.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have regarding your child’s/children’s school experience at Pond Cove.
