      Principal's Notes

Week of 5 Mar 2019

Dear Families,

March certainly has come in like a lion. The fresh snow will add a bit of excitement to our recess time considering our playground has been relatively bare this season.

At Pond Cove we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and visitors above all else. This week I would like to highlight the safety procedures in place for our parent drop off/pick up circle. We are fortunate to have a well-designed area to accommodate families who need to pick up and/or drop their child off. This system is working quite well, but it is always beneficial to review procedures.

Please refer to the photo below for the correct travel route while using the pick up/drop off circle at arrival or dismissal time. Notice that students, if not accompanied by an adult, should only exit or enter a vehicle while in the blue zone. Also notice that vehicles should exit the campus following the route indicated by the green arrows and should not travel through the staff and visitor parking lot to exit. If a parent would like to park their car for drop off or pick up, they should park in the lower parking lot and walk to the blue zone with the student for drop off or walk following the orange arrows to wait outside the school entrance for pick-up.

Thank you for partnering with us in creating a safe environment for all. As always, I am here to discuss your child’s school experience or answer any questions you may have. Email continues to be the most efficient way to reach me.

Best Wishes,

Jason Manjourides

Wednesday, March 6, will be an early release professional development day. Pond Cove students will be dismissed at 1:50.

4th Grade Parents/Guardians:

On March 13, all 4th graders will watch a CEMS band and chorus demonstration. That day, the results of the instrument suitability assessments as well as a link to an online sign up survey for band and chorus will go home with students. The link will also be emailed home to parents that afternoon. ALL 4th graders who plan to participate in 5th grade band and chorus will need to sign up by March 20.

If you have questions, please contact:

Caitlin Ramsey, 5-8 band:  cramsey@capeelizabethschools. org

Emily Piller, 5-8 chorus/classroom music: epiller@capeelizabethschools. org

*Please note that in order to have a balanced band, we may need to limit the number of students registered for certain instruments. The sooner you register, the greater the chance that your child will get their first choice of instrument.
