      Principal's Notes

Week of 1/7/19

Dear Pond Cove Families,

I am hopeful that your family has found the transition back to our school routine to be a smooth one. It has been great to have the students return and they have adjusted quite well.

During the month of January, students in grades 1 - 4 will take the winter benchmark MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA®. The test will help us determine your child’s current instructional level and measure their academic growth at this point in the year. Students who have been previously identified as requiring accommodations for testing through a 504 Accommodation Plan or an Individualized Education Plan will take these tests with accommodations.

For the winter benchmark, students in grades 1 – 4 will take the tests in reading and mathematics. You will be notified once your child’s NWEA scores are available for viewing on the test score link in PowerSchool. Testing is scheduled for the week of January 14. I will include a more detailed testing schedule in my next Principal’s Notes. Stay tuned.

If you would like to learn more about the MAP Growth test, please visit the NWEA website at NWEA.org/Parent-Toolkit.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have.

Best wishes,

Jason Manjourides, Principal

Some students bring cell phones in their backpacks to school as a means to communicate with family members after school.  Student cell phone use is not allowed during the school day and any cell phones that students bring to school must be kept securely in their backpacks.  This includes Smart Watches and other personal electronic devices. The school is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal cell phones.
